Dance Glamour: Celebrities Take the Stage for Minnesota Ballet

Duluth’s finest are swapping their daily schedules for dancing shoes, all in support of a cherished local institution: the Minnesota Ballet.
This Thursday, the 19th annual Celebrity Dance Challenge will light up the Depot Theater with stars both familiar and new, gracing the stage to showcase their talents. “It’s a good way to reach out to our community, get to know people in our town who do really important things, and important jobs, and for us to connect with them,” enthused Brooke Bero, a distinguished dancer with Minnesota Ballet.
Stars Align for a Cause
In a fascinating mix of community engagement and performing arts, participants are partnering with professional dancers to create unforgettable routines. This year’s buzz features Mike Malone, a tech firm VP, pairing with Brooke Bero. Malone expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, “It’s been fantastic. Brooke’s been great.”
An Evening of Surprises
While many contestants will stick to traditional styles like jazz or ballroom, Bero and Malone offer something different—a surprise mashup in their performance, promising a memorable twist to their dance number. “There’s a nice little mashup in the middle there, unexpected ending,” Malone teased.
The event also features notable names such as Bob Helland, Eric Huie, and Pete Pascente, with each routine bringing a unique flavor to the stage. The anticipation builds as Oct. 9 approaches, each step dancing its way to benefit Duluth’s beloved ballet company.
Spinning for Support
As colorful costumes and lively rhythms prepare to fill the Depot Theater, every ticket, every twirl, and every dip serves a higher cause: raising funds for the Minnesota Ballet. It’s more than just a dance; it’s a community’s embrace for the art they treasure.
The show is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9. Be sure to secure your seat for an evening of glamour, talent, and heartfelt support. According to Northern News Now, this event not only showcases local celebrity talents but also brings attention to the nurturing of community arts.
