HOW CAN I ASK A MAN TO HELP ME WITH MONEY?

I have been dating a man for 2 years, he is kind and caring, but how can I explain to him that instead of restaurants and trips, it would be better if he would help me with money?

I live with my mom, there is no alimony from BM and the money he spends on shopping would help me a lot.

For my birthday he bought me an expensive phone, but if he gave me this amount, I would be able to pay for a private garden for almost 8 months and it would be more useful to me.

But I can't tell him that, it doesn't sound right.

What should I do? How do I give a man a hint?
