Ribbon-Cutting Marvel: New CHRISTUS Emergency Center in Henderson Opens

HENDERSON, August 2, 2025 – A bright chapter in healthcare unfolded this Tuesday as CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System proudly inaugurated its latest cornerstone of medical excellence: the CHRISTUS Emergency Center Henderson. Residents, guests, and local dignitaries gathered in jubilation for an event that marked a significant milestone in regional healthcare advancement.
A Fulfilled Promise to Henderson
A year in the making, the promise made by Todd Hancock, President of CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, came to life in a resounding success. Standing before an eager audience, Hancock beamed, “Today is not just the opening of a facility; it’s an affirmation of our commitment to this community.” Promised in 2024, the new facility opened ahead of the summer deadline, welcoming patients from July 31.
State-of-the-Art Healthcare at Your Doorstep
The new 12,500-square-foot emergency center located south of Wylie Elementary on U.S. Highway 259 boasts cutting-edge resources designed for efficiency and care. Featuring 24-hour emergency services across 13 exam rooms and four triage rooms, the center ensures that advanced imaging and laboratory services are readily accessible. As noted by Chris Glenney, Senior VP of Operations for CHRISTUS Health Northeast Texas, the goal is clear: “Deliver the highest care available to those who deserve it.”
A Community Investment
Over $14 million has been invested into making CHRISTUS Emergency Center Henderson a beacon of health and service. Providing nearly 40 new healthcare jobs, the facility is staffed by board-certified experts proficient in dealing with everything from minor illnesses to severe conditions such as heart attacks and strokes. As Hancock insightfully noted, “You can have the best healthcare in the world, but if people cannot access it, then what good is it?”
Broadening the Scope
The opening of the emergency center is just one part of CHRISTUS Health’s vigorous expansion strategy in East Texas. Future plans include upcoming facilities in Palestine and Mount Pleasant. Moreover, January saw the groundbreaking of the new CHRISTUS Cancer Center in Longview, set to open by fall 2026, hinting at an inspiring growth trajectory.
