My boyfriend reacted extremely negatively to this. He said that now is not the time, among other things. He also suggested that the money could be spent on something else. For the record, this money is not our joint funds nor his, but mine. He also said that it's inappropriate to go without him.
He himself does not want to go anywhere; sometimes he's too busy, sometimes he dislikes the country, sometimes he finds it expensive. What do you think, is he right? Or am I? I believe I am right—if you're not contributing financially, you don't want to or can't go yourself, then you shouldn't keep someone else from going.
